Principal's Report

It’s hard to believe this is the last newsletter of the school year, and we are now counting down the days until Father Christmas visits! We've had a very busy term with many classes attending camps, report writing, graduations etc,  and now it is time for a  well-earned break.

It's that time of year when we say farewell to our year 6 & 7 students moving on to high school. We've  had two camps, two graduation ceremonies, and two graduation assemblies in recent weeks to  acknowledge our students and reflect on their time at Angaston Primary School. I hope they remember their time at Angaston with fondness, and wish them all the very best for the future.

We also farewell Mrs Cameron, Ms Cheers, Mr Norton, Ms Seelander, Mrs Ferguson and Ms Menzel. They have made significant contributions to the school in their time with us and we wish them all the very best in their new endeavours.

A big thank you to the many volunteers who had a start stop relationship with the school this year thanks to COVID restrictions. I am very grateful to the Governing Council, Fundraising, parents and friends etc for their support and contribution to the school.

I would also like to say thank you to the staff at Angaston Primary School who continue to work hard to improve learning outcomes for our students. I appreciate the extra hours they contribute to the school above and beyond what is expected.

Looking ahead to next year we have 10 classes (approx. 247 students) next year:

Middle primary classes are now located in the old upper primary unit near the library. We will update signage next year.

Our preschool children finished their formal transition visits to Angaston Primary School last  week, and we are really looking forward to welcoming the children and their families next year.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Keep safe, and enjoy spending time with your children over the holidays. We look forward to seeing you  on Monday 31st  January 2021.

A NOTE FROM NAT

Wow! What a year - how is it almost over?

I have had a great two terms, getting to know you all, making new friends and settling into my new role.

And guess what I have actually learnt some things at school too, who knew!!

Things I have learnt APS style …

  • counting in my head and not using my fingers (thanks to Ethan B - Mrs Hearnden’s )
  • how “not” to butter Fairy Bread in Miss Cheer’s class
  • Long Division is fun and works! (thanks to Layla and Seattle - Mr Burne’s  class)
  • Handball Volleyball is a thing (thanks to  Levi, Jammie, Chase & Toby - Miss Cheer’s class)
  • Coding - Ozobots ARE cool (Thanks to Julia and Fynnan - Mrs Goudie’s class)
  • I still can’t play Basketball (thanks to Callum, Jacob DM & James - Mrs Schultz class)
  • Pepperoni Pizza is still the best (cooking with Kye - Mrs Cameron’s class)

See … You can teach an old dog new tricks. Here’s to more learning and growing in 2022.

Thank you APS for welcoming me in into your wonderful community and allowing me to be apart of your amazing school.

May your Christmas sparkle with joy and laughter. Be safe (and kind) and I look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Merry Christmas,

Nat x

Optus Crows Cup Football Carnival

On Friday 26th November Week 7 a group of Year 4,5 and 6 girls represented Angaston Primary School at the Optus Crows Cup football carnival held at Freeling. It was run by the Adelaide Crows Women’s team and the SANFL. The carnival saw 6 games of football across the day played against various schools from the Barossa and Gawler regions. Our girls represented the school exceptionally and gave their all.  We had a few new players to footy which was fantastic and everyone had a great time. Well done to our younger girls who played against Year 7’s and they certainly held their own. Angaston Primary ended up finishing 4th out of 11 schools winning 4 games from 6. The girls were very lucky to meet and hang out with AFLW players from the Crows including 2x AFLW premiership superstars Anne Hatchard and Sarah Allan. Well done girls on a brilliant team performance throughout the day.
