Broken Hill North Public School

School Bulletin No. 39 2020

From the Principal

Another big week for us as we’re doing something again for the first time due to COVID guidelines. I really feel for our families who have been restricted in their access to school. I hope and pray that this will be rectified in 2021.

Our planning for 2021 is in place with staff covering our 10 mainstream classes and our 5 special education classes. I feel confident in our plans to further progress our gains this year and continue our focus on our kids.

Our Presentation Day will be held on Monday 7th December but through the day and at school in the hall. Our K-2 ceremony will commence at 10am with the 3-6 and Special Education kicking off at 11.30am in the school hall. Mrs Hellyer and Mr Hamilton will do their best to pull together an audio/visual production of the day’s events and put a link on our media platforms to access through a you tube channel for families to view on Monday evening.

Another annual event that will have to be modified in our current COVID world is our Royal Blue acknowledgments. The criteria has had to be adjusted due to the learning from home period where school attendance will not be taken into account. The assembly is scheduled for Friday 11th December and once again we will do our best to enable parents and families to experience this through an audio/visual presentation.

COVID-19 Guidelines for parents & carers

Unfortunately, the advice remains and the expectation is that parents will drop the children off and go in the mornings and remain outside the school, maintaining social distancing, in the afternoons.

Parents/Carers are permitted to visit the school for the following purposes only:

  • essential parent and carer meetings with teachers and/or school executives to discuss disciplinary or welfare matters where a virtual meeting solution is not available
  • parents and carers who attend a school administration building or another defined location for the purpose of picking up their child if they are unwell or where they have been asked to arrange for a COVID-19 test after their child has displayed flu-like symptoms while at school

Note that all adults visiting a school must comply with the department’s COVID-safe requirements including personal hygiene, infection control and physical distancing guidelines. All visitors must sign the external visitors form each time they visit the school regardless of the frequency and duration of the visit.
