Dear Parents and Carers,
What a year! Resilience, perseverance and gratitude are the concepts that come to mind when I reflect on the year of 2021! We often speak to our students about the importance of resilience and each of them demonstrated it by the truckload this year, not just throughout the learning from home period, but also when dealing with the many changes and cancellations of events throughout the year.
Parents and carers, I can’t thank you enough for the support you have shown the school this year and I am very grateful to be working in a school where education is not only highly valued, but strongly supported. Thank you for working tirelessly to keep your children learning from home while juggling many other roles and thank you for the support and trust you provide in us each day when your most precious resource walks through the school gates. Covid aside, there are so many positives to be taken from the last 12 months and every child should be congratulated on their amazing efforts throughout the year. Everyone deserves congratulations for the progress they have made this year, be it academically, socially or emotionally.
Last week, we held our Presentation and Graduation assemblies and while they were in a very different format to previous years, each event highlighted the calibre of students we have had the pleasure of dealing with every day. Our Captains and Vice Captains did a superb job leading our Primary assembly and are to be congratulated on the way they have conducted themselves throughout the year. Thank you Amarli, Eben, Tia and Kayne! We also announced our 2022 student leadership team and congratulate Annabelle and Levi as Captains for 2022, alongside Jaya and Will as Vice Captains. We know, just like their predecessors, they will do an amazing job as leaders. In fact, Levi and Annabelle were thrown in the deep end the day after the announcement, faultlessly leading the Year 6 Farewell.
Thank you to our amazing teachers and support staff who have continued to go above and beyond for our students. I’m super excited about the staffing team we have put together for next year and know we will handle anything 2022 can throw at us!
On behalf of everyone at Team Tomerong, I wish all of our students a lovely festive season and lots of quality time with their loved ones.
Merry Christmas.
