Dear Families,
World Education Support Personnel Day
Sunday is World ESP Day. Our Education Support Staff are such an important part of Mansfield Primary School. They work very hard and have to be extremely flexible and adaptable. I appreciate all the work they do. A huge thank you to our Integration Aides, Office Staff and ICT Technician.
Grade 5 Camp
Last week the Grade 5s were away on their Melbourne and the Sea camp. I visited them on Tuesday, joined a couple of surf lessons, had dinner, a night walk and camped the night. They were having a great time and doing a wonderful job. It is a fantastic experience for our students and a huge amount of work for Ms Driessen, our Grade 5 teachers, Integration Aides and parent helpers. Thank you to all of them.
IGA Community Rewards
Thank you to the Marks family for allowing community members to donate their points to support our school. Last week we received a cheque (they still exist!) for $1700. This year we will be using the money for equipment to support our School to Summit program.
If you would like to donate your community rewards to MPS, keep an eye out for a skoolbag notice from the school office. They will explain a very simple process.
Integrity Day and Walk to School Day
Junior School Council are organising Integrity Day tomorrow (it is also walk to school day for those who are willing to brave the predicted rain in the morning). Integrity for me is about being honest and living my life in line with my values. Finding something yellow to wear will be a challenge but I look forward to seeing lots of yellow in the yard.
NAPLAN
The Grade 5s have had a busy couple of weeks. Back from camp and into NAPLAN. Our Grade 3 and 5 students complete NAPLAN each year along with students from across the country. It is an opportunity for students to show us what they can do. The data allows us to evaluate our programs, see where we are having an impact and plan our future curriculum.
Grade 5 and 6 Skiing
Mt Buller has had some real challenges over the last year and these have impacted operations for 2022. There are issues around lesson times, availability for local schools and cost. We are currently trying to work out how we can run our Grade 5 and 6 ski program in a way that works for everyone. An expression of interest note will be sent out next week.
Like always, please get in touch with us with any questions or concerns. Call or email your classroom teacher, call the front office or email me tom.macmunn@education.vic.gov.au.
Have a great weekend.
Take Care,
Tom
