Hello, Giinagay, Hai
Welcome back to 2021.
Dear parents and carers
On behalf of the staff I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our families at Scotts Head Public School. A special mention to the newest members of our community and our incoming Kindergarten students. We are so lucky to have you here.
We are pleased to say that we are now able to have our Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 families on site for drop off and pick up times for the first few days. This is very exciting news and we ask you to refer to the attached guidelines to ensure we are keeping everyone safe.
QR codes
The statewide rollout of the COVID Safe check-in system is ongoing. Individual QR codes have been allocated to all public schools. We will have this positioned in the office foyer for adults to access if they are entering the school grounds.
COVID Guidelines
Parents and carers can enter the school to:
- Pick up uniforms from the uniform shop
- Meet with school staff for an appointment
- Drop off students in Kindergarten and Year 1 and 2
- Parents and carers are reminded that students must not attend school if they are unwell, even with the mildest of symptoms. Students must return a negative COVID-19 test and be symptom free prior to returning to school.
Please contact me if you would like any further information or clarification on any of the above procedures as we start the school year. Things will keep changing and our goal is to keep our community safe and well. Be assured also that your engagement with your child’s learning is important to us and we will keep contact open via our digital communication platforms or please contact the office.
We are very pleased to welcome the following new staff members to the team at SHPS School: Scott Standley (SLSO in K/1) Brendan Gillis (Reading Support Teacher), Casey Symonds (Administrative Officer), Kelly Bell (Enhanced Cleaner) and Josh Wills (School Counsellor).
Thanks to all the staff who came in the school holidays to ensure the best start possible for all our students. Especially to Kelly who managed the installation of our new storage container and Ricky Buchanan who assisted with the new signage in the bush tucker track.
Year 6 Leadership Camp
Our annual Year 6 Leadership Camp will be tomorrow Thursday 4 February where students stay overnight at the Christian Youth Centre. Thanks in advance to the staff members involved with the camp - Pak Chris, Pak Karl, Bu Gillian, Helen and Ricky.
This camp combines living skills with leadership training. Students will learn valuable skills in small group management as well as preparing and cooking their meals. Students will focus on refining their leadership skills, the school values and preparing their Sports Captain speeches for early next week.
Thanks, yaarri yaraang, terima kasih.
Bu Gillian
