St Mary's Bulletin

Term 1 - Week 7 (19th March, 2021)

From the Principal

Dear St Mary's School Community

Feast of St Joseph

Today we celebrate the Feast of St Joseph.  St Joseph was Jesus’ father on earth and he worked as a carpenter.  St Joseph has a special link to our school as he is affiliated with the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart – the religious order that Mary Mackillop founded.  Our school was originally known as St Joseph’s School.   Pope Francis has dedicated this year as the Year of St Joseph.

Annunciation of the Lord

Next Thursday, we celebrate the feast of the Annunciation of the Lord.  It is celebrated on 25 March each year. This is nine months before the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day and is the day that the angel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive a son by the power of the Holy Spirit to be called Jesus.

Year Six Camp

The Year Six students had a wonderful time on camp and displayed the school values at all times.  Thank you to Mrs Riethmuller, Mrs O’Malley and Mr Chris Clarke who took time away from their own families to ensure that the students all had a wonderful camp experience.

Merredin Show

Thank you to all the staff and students for their hard work in preparing the St Mary’s display for the Merredin Show – be sure to take your family and friends to visit the display.  I look forward to seeing you all at the show tomorrow – it promises to be a great day!

Commitment Masses

The Sacramental Commitment Masses commence this weekend and conclude next for those students who are receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation for the first time.

Congratulations

We offer our congratulations to Miss Bec Wilson (PK and Kindy teacher) and Dane Millar who will be getting married on the weekend.  May they have a blessed future together as husband and wife.

Principal Absence

I will be in Perth from Tuesday to Friday participating in a school’s cyclic review which will be followed by a colleague’s principal review process.  Mrs O’Malley and Mrs Riethmuller will be responsible for the school in my absence.

Family Friday

Next Friday, 26 March we will be having Family Friday.  This is an opportunity for families to come into school to visit their child’s classroom and join in an activity with them.

Year One families are then encouraged to join the class for Parish Mass at 9.00am.

Please be mindful that we are still under Phase 4b COVID19 restrictions and that adults are required to adhere to physical distancing principles as follows:

• maintain 1.5 metres separation between adults who are not from the same household or groups of other adults.

• maintain a minimum of 2 square metres (2m2) per adult.

In the event that you are not well please do not come to school for Family Friday.

Let Us Pray

O God, who in your inexpressible providence were pleased to choose Saint Joseph as spouse of the most holy Mother of your Son, grant, we pray, that we, who revere him as our protector on earth, may be worthy of his heavenly intercession.

Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
