Welcome to the first newsletter for 2021. Welcome back to students and families returning to Long Street. I would also like to welcome new to school students and their families. We will try extremely hard to ensure your stay with us is the very best it can be.
Congratulations to all staff on the highly dedicated and professional way they have returned to school this year.
Our 2 main learning goals in our site improvement plan are reading and writing. We have a number of measures and programs in place to demonstrate growth and progress for every student in every class. Staff will deliver specific programs targeting elements of reading during Read, Write, Inc and Literacy blocks. To ensure we provide the very best possibility for growth for your child it is extremely important that students attend as many days as they can during the year. Attendance along with solid teaching programs will provide the very best opportunity and challenge for your child’s development. Our main goal this year is to fight hard to ensure this occurs.
I would like to formally welcome Miss Hart to our school for 2021. Miss Hart is teaching a year 4/5 class in Room 10. We wish her every success at Long Street.
This year’s Governing Council will be elected at the upcoming AGM. Once this date is finalised I will announce it through a school bulletin. I welcome you to elect to become a member on this year’s council. Council meets on 2 occasions per term for approximately 2 hours. Nomination forms will be placed at the front office in the next few weeks.
