St Mary's Bulletin

Term 4 - Week 5 (12 October, 2021)

Dear St Mary's School Community

Value in Focus: Trust

We rely on each other to do the right thing.

Book Fair

Thank you to all the families who supported the Book Fair this week.  Money raised from both the Book Fair and Book Club go towards replenishing books for the Library.  Thank you to Mrs Discenza for all her efforts in coordinating the Book Fair.

Remembrance Day

Yesterday we celebrated Remembrance Day.  The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of World War One.  This day enables everyone to pause, reflect and remember those who gave their lives in service for our country, those who returned home injured or ill, and those who bravely serve our country today.  It is through the sacrifices of those that have gone before that enable us to live with freedom today.

St Mary's School celebrated with a liturgy on the lawn at 11.00am, led by our Year Six students and organised by Mrs Riethmuller and our Head Boy and Head Girl represented the school at the Shire of Merredin ceremony at the lawn on the Visitor's centre.

Year One Assembly

Congratulations to Year One who treated to us to a wonderful assembly all about animals this morning.  The students were very enthusiastic in sharing their knowledge, singing and dance moves!  Thank you to Mrs Grant, Mrs McCormack and Mrs Jefferys for all their hard work in preparing the students and bringing the assembly to fruition.

Reconciliation

Please keep Patrick O'Neill, Zac Crees, Greta Gethin, Hamish Carr and Wilson Mason and their families in your prayers as they will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Sunday for the first time.  Thank you to Father Andrew, Miss Walsh and Mrs O’Malley for preparing the students.

School Concert 2021

Preparation for the 2021 School Concert on 1 December 2021 is well underway.  Information about the outline of the Concert and how to book tickets was emailed to all families on 3 November 2021. All those who are attending the concert will require a ticket.  if you have not booked tickets please do so as I would hate for anyone of our families to miss out on seeing their child/children perform because they did not book tickets.

CPPA AGM/System Leaders Thanksgiving Mass

I will be joining all CEWA System leaders next Friday for the Thanksgiving Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral.  Preceding this I will be attending the Catholic Primary Principals AGM.  Mrs Riethmuller will be responsible for the school in my absence.

Specialist Room

The Specialist Room has been getting painted this week.  It is looking more like a classroom and less like a cave.  The next step is for the flooring to go down - this will be vinyl on the left-hand side and carpet squares on the right-hand side.

School Advisory Council

Have you got special skills and talents that would help our school? Yes, then why not nominate to be a School Advisory Council member for 2022?  Being a SAC member is a wonderful way to contribute to St Mary's School!  If you are interested and need more information either contact me directly or speak with Erica Carlson who is the current chair.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families,

Ms Adriana Coniglio

Principal
