Holy Trinity Primary Granville

Term 3 Week 10 - 17th September 2021

From the Leadership Team

Philip Mahony | Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of a very unusual term, I want to congratulate and thank all the parents and students on how they have managed remote learning. While it has been stressful and frustrating, the students have been able to make sound progress due to the hard work and commitment of the dedicated teachers here at Holy Trinity and the continued support and input from the parents.

Term 4 commences on Tuesday 5th October with the continuation of remote learning. At this stage, the NSW Government has listed dates for students in the LGA's which are Level 3. Since Cumberland Council is currently in a Level 4 status, we will have to await further Government advice as the school term progress.

Understanding Very Big Numbers:

A lot of us have difficulty making sense of very big numbers - especially now our governments are spending unimaginable sums of money. The trick to getting our heads around trillions and billions and millions is to relate them to something more familiar.

An example with elapsed time:

A million seconds from now is about 12 days.

A billion seconds is 32 Years.

Suddenly  the vastness of the gulf between a million and and a billion becomes obvious. A million seconds is a brief vacation; a billion seconds is a major fraction of a lifetime.

Warm regards,

Phil Mahony

Jason Fisher | Assistant Principal

I hope all parents/carers have a nice restful holiday. The children have adapted to online learning this term so I hope they have a nice restful time as well. I would suggest that the children stay away from devices for the holiday period, so they do not become screen fatigued and are fresh and ready to go for term 4. Hopefully we will return at some time throughout Term 4. All the teachers miss the children and can’t wait for them to return.

Stay safe everyone.

The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Last year the two Granville Parishes of Holy Trinity and Holy Family merged to form the combined parish of Holy Cross Granville. Tuesday 14th September marked the first anniversary of this great occasion. We congratulate Father Andrew and the parish team for the work they have done to ensure this transition has been a success. We thank the parish for their continued support of our school. Today we celebrated a community liturgy to celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and throughout September the parish will be holding events, prayers and masses to acknowledge Holy Cross Month. A Message from Father Andrew

General Notice Regarding the Postponement of First Holy Communion.

The stay-at-home orders imposed by the N.S.W. Government are unlikely to be lifted before the scheduled Masses for first Holy Communion. As such, the Masses previously arranged for 9 October and 16 October will be postponed and other arrangements will be made.

Consideration is being given to alternative dates and when these are confirmed you will be notified. However, the public health restrictions that will be imposed following the lifting of the lockdown will mean that based on the one person per four square metre rule, there will be a reduced number of people allowed in the church. This will mean that the number of people allowed to attend these Masses will need to be reduced. There will also be further requirements regarding face masks and social distancing.

When further information is made available to us and when we can determine alternative dates for first Holy Communion, we will advise on the arrangements and preparations.

Kind regards,

Fr. Andrew Bass

Supporting Families' Health and Wellbeing

Keeping active and healthy is important for our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly at this time when we are required to stay at home.To support the health and wellbeing of staff and families, Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) has developed a toolkit of "Healthy@Home" social media tiles and messages.

The Healthy@Home tiles provide families with practical tips and resources for:

  • being active
  • eating well
  • staying connected
  • supporting mental wellbeing.

There are a range of tiles you can choose to download including some which have been translated into other languages. We hope the practical tips and information are helpful for your families at this time.

The information is housed on the WSLHD Covid 19 Community Resourses for Western Sydney web page, where you'll find a lot of local COVID-19 related information (linked to NSW Govt sites).

Please contact WSLHD-MunchAndMove@health.nsw.gov.au if you have any questions about the toolkit.
