Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to School for the last week of Term 3!

What an excited School we had this morning as students returned on site for the first time after a whole month at home. Well done to all our Parents and Carers who made it through Home Learning and out the other side. To celebrate springing back to school we held a lunchtime spring roll feast where we sprang into eating action, to celebrate being back together Indo style.

Our Year 6 students looked outstanding this morning as they colourfully transformed after changing into their new Year 6 shirts.

This week we will decide upon our 2021 Year 6 School Captains. Students have been working hard during lockdown on completing an extensive school leadership reflection application submission. This application requires Year 6 students to describe how they have demonstrated leadership throughout the school and within their classroom. It also requires students to identify areas in which their leadership has made progress and describe why they should be considered for the position of School Captain. The application also includes teacher referees to ask about individual student applications (similar to a job application).  Our Year 6 students reflect on ways in which they have demonstrated leadership through the extensive opportunities and skills they have gained throughout the year. Our Captain selection process happens at the end of term 3 to allow all Year 6 students an opportunity for leadership growth and development.

Congratulations to the 13 students who entered the NAILA Indonesian Speech Competition. We are eagerly awaiting their results. Students were asked to prepare a speech as if meeting a friend from Indonesia for the first time and relay and describe information about themselves. Well done to Bu Emi who patiently supported students generating and uploading successful speeches which showcased a high level of Indonesian language proficiency by all students who entered.

Today students in Year 3 and 5 who completed NAPLAN will be receiving their Numeracy and Literacy results to take home for parents and carers from the NSW Education Standards Authority.

We will be holding our 2021 Book Fair this Thursday 16 September. We still have all the boxes of books which will be displayed in the LLLC this Wednesday 15 September. Students can look over all the books and complete a wish list to take home to parents, then if permitted, students will be able to purchase the books on Thursday 16 September at the Book Fair.

It’s great to see entries coming in for Scotts Head Public Schools Got Talent, you still have time to record and upload all amazing entries to scottsheadshowcase.wetransfer.com.
