Term 3 Week 4: Monday 2nd August 2021

Acting Principal's Message

 Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you are continuing to keep safe in these unprecedented times. Our MIPS family has been amazing through this challenging time. Each day we hear new information to which we must all respond, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community. We look forward to life returning to some form of normality and welcoming our children back on site. We of course continue to pray for those in our community and beyond that are suffering during this time

It has been a pleasure to be included in grade Zoom meetings with our students and be witness to the wonderful reconnection being made although remotely. The excitement in the eyes of the children as they spot the faces of their friends on the screen is one that warms my heart each time.

Over the last week I have been in contact with parents to talk about how things have been going during the remote learning period. It has been wonderful to hear of the successes of the students and the positivity of the learning experiences. Your feedback is important and helps build the way forward. I look forward to speaking with more parents over the coming weeks.

You will receive details regarding Parent Zoom meetings being held this week. These meetings will include tips on technology and also provide an opportunity for us to answer questions you may have. Please join us as we continue to work together to provide a progressive and meaningful learning experience for our beautiful students.

The positive feedback and notes to the school have been great in keeping our spirits up and I encourage you to keep them coming.

As we welcome Mr Dowd back to school next week, I would like to personally thank Mr Maguire for his assistance over the past few weeks, I know you would all agree he has been an enormous asset to the MIPS community. We look forward to Mr Maguire continuing with us in various roles.

I would also like to thank all of the community, parents, students and staff in supporting me in my role as acting principal. It has been an absolute honour to lead the school over the past few weeks and I of course look forward to continuing this in my Assistant Principal role. Your positive words and feedback have been greatly appreciated.

Stay safe and thank you for your ongoing support,

 Mrs Sharon Mizzi

School Counsellor's Message

Dear Parents,

It has been hard not being able to connect with you and your children face to face. I hope that life in lockdown has been treating you ok. These aren't the easiest of times for many of us.

I have been speaking with many students and families over the past few weeks. Please reach out to me, your classroom teacher, or via our admin if you or your children would like some confidential counselling support at this time.

There will be a parent 'check-in' session next Monday evening at 730pm. It will be a chance to connect with other parents on zoom. There is no formal agenda or anything to get through - just a chance to connect!

The details of the sessions are:   https://parracatholic.zoom.us/j/63321582634?pwd=VmE2RkRQRFpmZ2ZjazZoWVlCaWMvdz09
