We rely on each other to do the right thing.

As we enter the month of May, we take time to reflect on our ‘mothers’ and the nurturing and love that mothers provide for their children. As Catholics, the month of May is devoted to Mary, our Blessed Mother and the mother of Jesus. Mary embodies the qualities that are synonymous with being a loving mother – care, compassion, empathy, concern and being present through even the most difficult times.
Mary is someone we can all turn to. There are many prayers devoted to Mary. One is the rosary which is prayerful, relaxing and calming for children and adults alike. On Monday, the Year One and Two classes did a workshop on ‘Pete the Sheep’ in preparation for their visit to Cummins Theatre on Wednesday, 26 May to see the stage production. ‘Pete the Sheep’ is a classic children’s picture book by Australian author Jackie French.
On Wednesday afternoon the Pre-primary to Year Two classes had a visit from Constable Care. The students saw a performance on pedestrian, bike and road safety called ‘Getting to School’.
To enable maximum participation of our students and in working with other schools in our district we have had to make some changes to the dates for carnivals at the end of the term. These date changes are as follows:
18 June: Bruce Rock Cross Country
25 June: Netball Carnival (as per calendar)
1 July: Winter Carnival (Years 3-6) – moved from 18 June
Thank you to Elisha Criddle for all her efforts in liaising with the other schools to ensure the best outcome for our students.
Our next P&F meeting will be held in on Monday night at 7.30pm in the Library. Please come along to support the P&F – all are welcome to attend.
Ms Jasmin Holmes has been the St Mary’s School Uniform Shop Coordinator for many years and has done an amazing job. Due to her work commitments Jasmin would like to step back from this role – effective at the end of the term. If you are interested in taking on this volunteer role please contact me directly or have a chat with Jasmin to see what the role entails. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jasmin for the commitment she has made to our school and for the smooth and efficient running of the Uniform Shop during this time. Thanks Jasmin!
I will be in Perth on Thursday and Friday for GEMS and the CPPA Members Day. Mrs Riethmuller and Mrs O’Malley will be responsible for the school in my absence.
We offer our congratulations to the Okeowo family (Fimi – Year One) on the arrival of their son and brother Samuel.
Wishing all the St Mary’s mothers, grandmothers and mother figures a relaxing and enjoyable day on Sunday. We hope that you are spoilt by your families as you deserve!
