Principal's Message

Dear Community

Can you believe that we have made it to the end of Term 2. It was quite an eventful term, with a lockdown at the beginning and the end. However, we managed to fit a heap of amazing things in between! If you haven’t already, follow us on Facebook or Instagram to check out some of the adventures our students got up to!

Term 3 looks like being just as busy with sporting carnivals, spelling bees, Book Week and a bike safety incursion already on the planner. Something for everybody! Our wonderful P&C will also be running a Father’s Day stall and a Quiz Night fundraiser later in the term.

I would like to wish everyone a safe and restful holiday, and I hope everyone’s travel plans eventuate!

We will see students back on Tuesday 20 July for the start of Term 3.

As always, if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to call or email me on Sarah.Dawson@education.wa.edu.au

Scarborough Primary School Five-a-side Soccer Tournament Term 2 2021

This terms “Five-a-side soccer tournament” was held at various recesses and lunchtimes in Term 2. There were 4 teams who signed up to compete: The Greenraders (their spelling btw!), Legends, The Ducks and Sassy Baka. Teams were comprised of students from years 4, 5 and 6, and were a mix of boys and girls.

The tournament was conducted with great sporting spirit, and was a lot of fun. There was a lot of talent on display, and some great goals, saves and on field play from all teams. The Greenraders ran eventual out winners, and were undefeated throughout the tournament. The Greenraders collected the annual winner’s trophy for display in their classroom for the rest of the year (see photo attached). They also won the right to play “Mr Brunt’s All-stars” in a friendly game. Well done to all teams! Stay tuned for the upcoming Connect 4 tournament in Term 3, and the Six-a-side cricket tournament in term 4.

Regards

Andrew Brunt

P&C News

P&C News

We’ve all made it till the end of Term 2! Quite the long term, with various upheavals due to Covid; but rest assured the holidays are here.

Fortunately, the P&C was able to have one final meeting before the end of term, so we have planned lots of exciting FUNdraisers for Term 3! The Father’s Day Stall will be back, as will a Quiz Night!! (Covid-guidelines depending of course)

We will need help to organise these events, so parents/ grandparents/ carers/ families be prepared to put your hand up. You don’t have to be a member of the P&C to help out with the events, but if you have any amazing fundraising ideas we would love to hear from you. Either at a meeting, email or chat to our team.

The money we raise at our various fundraisers supports our school and the students. Fundraisers are an effective and fun way to make sure our school community has all tools available to grow and flourish. All we need is some of your time to make these events a success.

Our next meeting is on Monday 2 August at 6.30pm in the school library. It would be fantastic to see some new faces join us!

WE NEED YOU!

Did you know that the P&C also runs the School Canteen and the Uniform Shop? In order for us to keep canteen running and the uniform shop prices low, we rely on volunteers from our school community. This means that WE NEED YOU!

The Uniform Shop is open on Wednesdays between 8.45am-9.15am (yes, only half an hour!) and Canteen is open on Fridays between 10am-12pm. During these times we are in need for more volunteers. Our school is growing and our current small team needs extra support in order to keep these services going. So please check your diary and sign up to help!

We also welcome extended family members to be part of our community, so if you can’t help, perhaps your parents can (-:

The easiest way is to email us with your availability, but feel free to chat to the team personally.

School Banking Representative

The P&C is seeking a new volunteer to take on the role of the School Banking Representative. This service has been paused in line with the COVID guidelines, however, we are allowed to commence accepting deposits at the school again.

School Banking is a valuable tool for children to learn about money, banking and saving. Children will learn to set goals, find ways to make money (chores etc), earn rewards and they can track their progress via an App.

As a rep you will have to invest about an hour a week, during the school term. Your main duties are accepting deposits at school (usually one morning a week before school starts) and depositing these at the Bank.

If this interests you, please email us for more information.
