Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to all students and staff to Term 4. We return this term to our beautiful school with all staff and students back on site continuing to operate under Level 3 restrictions, please click the following link for further information https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/advice-for-families/level-3-schools.

As a school community we acknowledge the feeling of disconnect that operating under Level 3 restrictions generates for families not being able to come onsite. It is our connections, involvement and partnership with families sharing experiences and successes that has always been the culture and beat of Scotts Head Public School’s heart. We look forward to after 1 December where restrictions will open up and parents, carers and volunteers will be able to be back onsite. This date is subject to the Government’s restrictions. Parents will be able to attend end of year functions such as Presentation Night, Year 6 Farewell, and the positive ripples of impact will flow back through our schools veins.

This term we begin daily fitness. Our Peer Group leaders will lead and support their groups to rotate through fitness stations for 15 minutes each morning. This will get the whole school moving and activated which will enhance learning, exercise having both mental and intellectual benefits. Recent evidence shows how physical activity’s effects on the brain create positive outcomes for student performance within the classroom.

Congratulations to our newly appointed Scotts Head Public School Leadership Team for 2021:

School Captains     Matilda and Lior

Vice Captains         Noah and Freya

This term students in Year 3-6 will complete a NSW Department of Education Check in Assessment online for reading and numeracy. These assessments are designed to assist and support schools following disruptions to schooling. These Check in Assessments can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in aspects of numeracy and literacy and to help teacher’s tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs.

Congratulations to Year 6 student, Wolfe, who has made it through to the North Coast Regional Finals of the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking competition. He has been working hard on his speech about racism and will also complete an impromptu speech about a topic given on the day. Public speaking develops confidence, communication and critical thinking skills. Good luck Wolfe!

Some positive news is that the Little Whales Kinder Orientation Program can continue this term as previously planned. This again is an important opportunity for both new kinder students and their assigned buddies in Year 5. Another ingrained Scotts Head Public School culture of students supporting and mentoring other students.
