Term 4 Week 4 - 28 October 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

I can truly say welcome back to Term 4 now with all of our students and staff back onsite, learning face to face. What a pleasure it is to hear students laughing and talking with their friends as they have reconnected after such a long period of ‘Learning from Home’.

Thank you, parents, and carers, for following the long list of instructions regarding afternoon dismissal and pick-up of students. Last week allowed our younger students time to practise the afternoon dismissal before all our older students started back this week. We are almost through another week and the afternoon routine is starting to be exactly that – routine.

Students Arriving at School too Early

Your children should not arrive at school before 8:30am. This time is when a teacher will be on duty. Your children are your responsibility before that time with regards to supervision. Please seek alternative safety and supervision for your children. The OSHClub has available places before school. There phone number is: 0418 157 929

A number of children arrived before 8am today. These parents will be contacted with regards to the early morning drop off and what they will do from tomorrow on. Please make arrangements to ensure the supervision of your children outside school hours is your top priority if you need to attend work early and this then leaves your children unsupervised.

Check-in Assessments

Years 3-6 students will be participating in a Department of Education Check-in Assessment in Week 6. These assessments are online and students will complete this in their class groups. A more detailed note has gone home to parents regarding this.

Opportunity Class 2022 Test

The Opportunity Class placement test will be delivered to students who have already applied, on 17 November. These tests will be held at our school for our students. Further advice will be sent via email to families involved in Year 4.

Selective High School 2023 Applications

Applications are now open for families of Year 5 students who may wish to apply for a Selective High School placement in 2023. These applications can only be made online and will close on 17 November 2021.  Applications are open online at https://education.nsw.gov.au/publ ic- schools/selective-highschools-and- opportunityclasses/year-7

High School Orientation

Year 6 students will still have an opportunity to participate in their High School Orientation program this year. It will be happening on Tuesday 23 November. It will be taking place virtually. A separate note will go home to Year 6 students discussing options of how they will participate.

Ordering Lunches Online

Thank you to the 156 parents who completed the survey regarding the possibility of ordering lunches from the canteen online. Almost 68% of responses said they would order lunches online and another 20% as maybe. Due to these results, the Canteen is in the process of setting up the online ordering system with FlexiSchools and we hope to provide you information very soon on how you can order online. While ordering online will be one option, families can still send in a lunch order on a brown or white paper bag.

We sent home a set of 5 lunch order bags with every student on the first day of their Return to School, with a canteen menu. Lunch order bags are quite inexpensive to buy in bulk at your local supermarket. Having them at home makes it easier to be prepared, writing out the lunch order and your children taking the order and dropping it off at the canteen in the morning. It has been lovely to see the independence developing in all of our students as they take responsibility for themselves at school.

Kindergarten Enrolments

If you would like to enrol your child for Kindergarten 2022 can you please complete the Google Form or call the school office on 9724 1555. Our enrolment numbers are quite low for this time of the year for our Kindergarten classes for 2022. If you have a child or know of a friend who has a child ready to start Kindergarten in 2022, and they live in our school area, please ask them to contact the school office. It is extremely important that we get information to all our new families in preparation for next year. We plan on sending information about our virtual orientation program very soon.

We will keep you updated with what will be happening with our end of year school events. Presentation assemblies, Yr 6 Graduation and Farewell and various grade activities will be planned once we have further direction from the Department of Education and NSW Health.
