Adopt a Block – Congratulations to our families who responded so well to the signing of permission notes, either online or paper, for their kids to be able to touch base with our neighbours. Ideally, we’d like the online option to become the norm and save some trees. Thank you!

Bright Spot – Last Tuesday morning from 6am the staff from Paradise PS turned up to help out the 200 RFDS Car Rally drivers by providing a cooked breakfast for them. We were blessed with the weather and their company as they were extremely generous with their donations for our school. It was another great example of the generosity and goodwill of staff which ended up raising over $3 500 for our school/kids.

Semester 1 reports will be heading home next week and I encourage every student to sit down with their family and talk through their report. It is a great opportunity to focus on learning and where your child is currently performing in the key learning areas and what sort of effort they’re applying to their learning as well. In keeping with our theme for 2021 – Focus On Improvement, the reports outline areas of targeted focus for the rest of the year for each child.  I hope you can get a sense that we are focussing far more on the process of learning in classrooms and not just the result. Keep on keeping on!

P & C – Congratulations to the P&C for their efforts with the lamington drive. I can honestly say I’ve never seen so many lamingtons in the one room in my life. Great to see so many helpers-KOKO!

How2Learn

One of our major and ongoing professional learning activities we have in place is HOW2Learn which is a research-based package aimed at increasing our teaching skills and improving outcomes for our students. Each week I will endeavour to propose aspects of mindsets and challenge you to take it into consideration in your role as parents / carers.

Fixed Mindset

Don’t try too hard; that way you’ve got an excuse if things go wrong

Change to

Growth Mindset

Always try; that way you have more chance of success and progress.

Which mindset is most likely to result in learning? Change the words, change the mindset!
