We would like to welcome two new members of staff to Zig Zag this term.
Welcome Mrs Cassandra Bradshaw who will be team teaching with Mrs Savath on the 5/6 class on Thursdays and Fridays.
We also welcome M/s Rebecca Tyson who will be providing relief in classrooms created by two new teaching positions which have become available for our school.
Congratulations to Mrs Tiffany Savath who has been successful in her application for the Instructional Leadership position at Zig Zag Public School. Mrs Savath has been leading the staff in curriculum improvement in Literacy and Numeracy and her appointment as Instructional Leader will mean we are able to streamline our processes for whole school improvement.
Another exciting new position in our school is a Digital Classroom Officer which is part of the Rural Access Gap program. The aim of this program is to increase the digital skills of students and staff, as well as ensuring that students in rural and remote schools have equal access to technology and technological skills, equivalent to that of surban schools
Mrs Savath has been doing this as an extra role with her passion and extensive knowledge for technology advancement. We are very excited that we now have time to enhance technology for everyone at our school.
The Main Learning Displays which were provided as part of this program are an amazing asset to each and every classroom. Mrs Savath will be working beside teachers in the classroom to support the use of technology as successful teaching tools for both students and teachers.
We are looking forward to Lachi Sharp (and the Kookaburras) playing for “GOLD” at 8pm tonight.
No matter what the outcome, the entire school couldn’t be prouder of Lachi and the Kookaburra’s.
“Go Lachi oi oi Go Lachi”
Our Term Three newsletter is dedicated to celebrating “Education Week”.
This year’s Education week theme is ‘Lifelong learners’ and celebrates education as a lifelong journey. Continuous learning is critical for success throughout life and everyone can be a lifelong learner.
Our education system is preparing young people to be agile thinkers and lifelong learners.
Unfortunately, Covid has again prevented families from visiting our classrooms. Our daily Facebook posts last week were intended to share the learning and lifelong experiences which occur in our classrooms.
In case you missed our posts celebrating Education week, we have compiled a summary for your enjoyment.
During Education Week NSW schools are celebrating lifelong learning. We wish our Zig Zag community could join us however we will instead bring a special post from each classroom . Today we bring you some snapshots from a vocabulary and reading fluency lesson from 5/6 . Vocabulary Learn new words as a class; thinking about meaning, similar words, opposite words, history of words, syllables and seeing the word in use. Read a text that includes the target words. Write sentences that use new words. Notice new words in the environment.
Exit ticket: Use new vocabulary in statements and questions. Fluency Reread the new text together focusing on pace, accuracy, smoothness, expression and comprehension. Practice rereading texts daily with a 'fluency partner'. Understanding vocabulary and fluent reading are key skills for developing lifelong comprehension.
