Principal's report

Dear parents/carers

Let me begin by stating that it was a pleasure to host the Meet the Staff night. We had a large number of parents and carers who attended and I hope that the information provided was valuable and useful.

 COVID-19

Several  parents have approached the school with concerns surrounding the Covid-19 virus. I would like to assure the community that schools across NSW are receiving regular advice from the NSW Department of Education. This week, an information pamphlet for parents was sent home. This information is also available on our school app. Please continue to remind your children to wash their hands thoroughly, to cover their mouth when sneezing or coughing and to use a tissue when necessary. I also ask families to follow DFAT advice if planning to travel overseas. Please visit http://www.smartraveller.gov.au for further details.

 UNIFORM

At Marsden Road Public School, we take pride in our uniform and it is an expectation that your child comes to school in full school uniform. This includes black shoes. Please note that T-Shirts underneath the school polo is not part of the school uniform. If the weather is chilly, please provide you child with a school jumper. If you need support in providing you child with school uniform, please contact the school office.

 PUNCTUALITY

I mentioned the importance of punctuality during the information session. It is imperative that we instill the value of attendance and punctuality early on in our children. It is our responsibility as adults to ensure that children arrive to school on time.

Regards

Manisha Gazula

Tell Them From Me Survey

This term, our school, like many other public schools in the state, will participate in a Department of Education initiative: the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. The survey measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices.

More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au

The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. More than 6,300 schools in Australia and around the world have used Tell Them From Me to survey 5.4 million students. Capturing the voices of our students will help improve how we do things at our school.

The survey is conducted online and all information provided is completely confidential. It will typically take less than 30 minutes to complete. It will be administered during school hours before Friday 8th May. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary.

A consent form and FAQs for parents/carers about the survey is being sent home with students. If you do not want your child or children to participate, please return the form to school by Friday 20th March. Copies of the form and FAQs are available from: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents.
