Dear Parents and Carers,
We are currently facing weather conditions very unfamiliar to most of our state's population. This time last year we were presented with the challenges of the Covid 19 pandemic. This year a new set of challenges confronts so many across our state and beyond. We of course reach out to everyone involved, appreciative that as I write this note we fortunately have had no loss of human life. We trust that with good management and the support of everyone in the community that will continue to be the case. Our prayers and empathy to all those who nonetheless are being adversely affected by the devastating floods.
We were directed to close the school for today and it appears almost all families received the communication sent out through the usual channels. I urge everyone to ensure you have the Skoolbag app on your phone and that it is set to always receive alerts sent out from the school especially for such significant events as a potential school closure. Please do this so you are not reliant on receiving an email as emails are not always suitable.
I will also be sending a message via Skoolbag to confirm that Mary Immaculate will be open tomorrow, Tuesday 23 March. We have sustained some internal and external damage but have spent today seeking to address these in readiness for the students' return. I urge our families to continue to put safety first as we move forward.
We pray for all those across Australia affected by this new challenge.
With appreciation for your ongoing support,
Stephen Dowd
Principal
