Such a great start to the 2021 school year! I think having a calmer, quieter holiday has been excellent for all of us. Children look rested, excited and happy to be back at school.
We’ve welcomed a number of new staff (as highlighted in the attached staff list and school location map) who have settled in well, thanks to the great organisation of our Executive team and Administration staff. Similarly, a great welcome to new students and families. We look forward to restrictions continuing to be relaxed and some smaller social events being arranged.
Drop off will continue at the gates; parents and children are doing a great job. Alternate advice will be given to new Kindergarten parents.
Gold stars for helping to keep Kiss and Go moving:
- to parents whose children are ready with bags, lunch money, violins etc. and jump out of the car on the footpath side unassisted; and
- polite drivers who allowed others into the moving line. We all have to get somewhere in a hurry and each letting a car in, goes a long way for harmony and smooth traffic flow.
The Frances St/The Avenue intersection and crossing is being re-engineered to promote better traffic flow and safety, with work to be undertaken during the Easter vacation by Randwick Council.
We continue to observe COVID restrictions particularly relating to numbers in the playground and indoors.
Thursday 11th February:
Stage 1: 4.00pm - 4:30pm
Stage 2: 4:30pm - 5.00pm
Stage 3: 5.00pm - 5:30pm
The Zoom link will be sent via Seesaw.
Later this term all parents will be invited to register for interviews either by phone or in person depending upon restrictions at the time.
You may however contact the teacher through the school email Randwick-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au for any concerns, or face to face or phone interviews by appointment and registration, given that the informal catch ups will continue to be limited.
School Communication and Parent Class Contacts
The school uses Operoo (formerly CareMonkey), Skoolbag and Seesaw to communicate regularly with parents.
At the Parent Information sessions we are offering parents the opportunity to nominate as a class parent contact and provide their information. The Class parent will then set up an informal group chat/email to share information between parents or for organising social, out of school play suggestions.
The school will not have role in this group nor disseminate information through it. Where a parent has concerns they should be addressed through email to the class teacher or via the school email. These can be followed up promptly and positively by the school.
As our year progresses we hope to have volunteers in classrooms as requested by teachers and at school events (Term 1 Swimming Carnival) in accord with our COVID safe plan. Interschool sport for Y3-6 is also proceeding.
We are looking forward to our first working bee and BBQ lunch on Sunday 21st February through a registration process and limiting adult numbers to 100. There will be lots of gardening and book covering needed, as it will be our first working bee for a whole year! Details for registration will be sent closer to the date.
Our first P&C meeting will be held on Monday 15th February at 7pm with arrangements as advised by the P&C. Details will be forwarded home shortly.
Regards
Susan Allen, Principal
