Churchlands Primary School Newsletter

Volume 9 - 25/06/2021

Principal's Message - Kim Fraser

I am continually amazed at the high level of educational opportunities our children have access to at CPS. Last Thursday our Year 3 – 6 students participated in the inaugural Keen2STEAM Competition. This was a culmination of the Churchlands Network of schools, Woodlands and Wembley PS, working together to develop broader opportunities for students to expand on their knowledge of STEAM and work with other students from other schools. It was fantastic to have Dr Bruce Webber, Principal Research Scientist from CSIRO, involved in the day and help develop students understanding of the Global environmental issues faced by us all. Congratulations to Wembley PS who were the overall winners of the day! Huge thank you to Mrs Hannah Reid who did an amazing job organising this event! And to Mr Johnson and all the teachers from the other schools who also supported and assisted, massive thank you!

Next week you will receive via Skoolbag the 2021 Parent/Carer survey. This provides our community with the opportunity to provide feedback. With all surveys, it is important that we are provided responses from as many people as possible.  All feedback supports our growth in identified areas of need and helps us also celebrate some of the amazing things we do. If you have not already done so, please ensure you have the Skoolbag app so you can participate.

Some of you may have noticed we have 2 new flag poles. This provides us with the opportunity to represent  the Australian National flag alongside the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. A very big thank you to Christine Tonkin, MLA, Member for Churchlands  who very kindly donated the poles.

As you are aware WA has moved into COVID Phase 5.  To support this, we will continue to ensure

·         Good hygiene practices are promoted and applied.

·         Adult visitors and staff should maintain physical distancing of 1.5 metres.

·         Parents are required to log into the SafeWA app when visiting the school for assemblies or other events.

·         Parents are required to sign in at the administration office if volunteering.
