Chisholm Need to Know

CAROLINE CHISHOLM COLLEGE

As you are aware, a member of our community tested positive to COVID-19 this week. We have worked closely with the Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta and NSW Health to ensure our response has adhered to all guidelines and requirements. Thank you to all members of our community for your support.

Years 7-10 Award Presentations
The Year 7 - 10 Award Presentations will be held in Week 10 to celebrate the successes of students during 2021. Unfortunately, due to current NSW Health social distancing requirements and the capacity of the Performance Centre, we are not able to invite parents to attend these presentations. The Presentation Ceremonies for students will, however, be live streamed at the following times:

Year 10 Thursday 9 December 8.50am
Year 9 Thursday 9 December 10.45am
Year 11 Thursday 9 december 1.10pm
Year 7 Friday 10 December 8.50
Year 8 Friday 10 December 10.45

Links for these presentations will be provided in next week’s Need to Know. Certificates will be presented to students for both academic and college community achievements. All students will have the opportunity to attend the ceremony for their year group. Parents of students receiving awards will receive an invitation from the college via email, however, we invite all parents and friends to join us online for these celebrations.

Wright House Initiative
Wright is currently running our initiative for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Our initiative running in weeks 9 and 10 of this term aims to achieve funds and awareness for Breast Cancer in our community, and funds for research and development behind this cause.

We are hoping to support the Breast Cancer Foundation through a variety of initiatives running at school, of which include:

  • $5 packs: Lolly bag, 4 raffle tickets, a pink ribbon and a heart of support to be tied to the front gate to show our support as a college.

  • Next Wednesday, the 1st of December, we will be holding an On Wednesdays we wear Pink Day. We encourage you to wear a pink shirt with your sport uniform or accessorise in pink with a gold coin donation.

  • A raffle will also be held where tickets can be purchased in the $5 pack or 1 for $1 or 3 for $2.

With great thanks to Boxed By Lara [www.boxedbylara.com.au] and Raine and Horne Commercial Penrith for their generous donations to our raffle, a lovely Gift Pamper Box valued at $150 and 2 x $100 Southlands gift cards are up for grabs as prizes for this raffle.

On behalf of Wright house, I hope to see our college community get involved for a good cause and hope to see your support these coming weeks!

Thank you,

Olivia Bennett - Wright House Leader

Donations of Old Uniforms
If any parents have old uniforms in reasonable condition, they are invited to donate them to the college to assist us to have an emergency supply which we use for a variety of reasons. These can be sent in at the start of the year or any time during the year. Please note, though, that we cannot use the old version of the sports uniform. Any donations will be most appreciated.

Uniform - Year 9 into Year 10 2022
Just a reminder that students starting Year 10 in 2022 will need the senior elements of their uniform. While skirts, socks and sports uniform remains the same, they will need the senior shirt, jumper and blazer. The blazer will not be mandatory to wear until Term 2 next year so you may choose to put off purchasing that. As with all school uniform items, these can be purchased from Lowes in Penrith Plaza. It would be best to get this organised well before the start of next year.

Air Purifiers to be Installed in all classrooms

The College has today taken delivery of 74 x Aeris Air Purifiers that will be set up in all classrooms, the library and other designated Learning Spaces. In addition, the College will shortly be in receipt of air monitors to record real time air quality readings and measure Carbon Dioxide (CO2). These tools are in addition to the College practices to ensure safe air quality in classrooms by opening windows, doors (internal and external), running Heat Exchangers (brings outside air into the rooms), Fans(for circulation),  and Air conditioners (cool, heat, and filter dust).
