ATTENDANCE

Number of students who have not given an explanation for absences.

Hi Everyone

Last term is always really busy for all concerned and so we need to be well organised to make sure we stay on track.  Please reply to the SMS you receive when your child is away.  Students are still learning this term; it is not a revision term.  New skills are still taught that they need for next year.  Every day matters.

We have gone from 44 to 53 unexplained absences so please send your reasons in as soon as you can.

If your child has 1 day a week off, that’s 40 days a year and over 2 and a half years in their school life so every day matters.

Students, make sure you receive a note or get your parent or carer to ring the school.

Remember, it is very easy to reply to a text message when your child is sick and then it’s done and you don’t have to remember later.  In a more detailed analysis:

K            6 –  down to 3 students

P/P          5 –  up to 11 students

Yr 1        6 – down to 5 students

Yr 2        6 - up to 8 students

Yr 3        9 – down to 7 students

Yr 4        2 –  to 2 students

Yr 5        3 – up to 6 students

Yr 6        7 – up to 11 students

Year 6 Outback Splash

Every year, after graduation, our year 6 students go to Outback Splash for a celebratory end of Primary School excursion.  Notes have gone home already.  I understand that there are many costs at this time of year for the 6’s and so I suggest you try to pay them as they come in or if you need help, we are more than happy to set up a payment plan.

As we have to pay for events in order of occurrence, dancing needs to be paid first and then the Outback Splash.  Please ensure dancing is paid first.

HEALTH TIPS

Sun Safety

With the hot weather approaching, it is important to talk to your children about sun safety and teach them good sun protection habits.

·         Slip on some sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible.

·         Slop on broad spectrum, water resistant SPF30+ sunscreen.  Put it on 20 minutes before you go outdoors and every two hours afterwards.  Sunscreen should never be used to extend the time you spend in the sun.

·         Slap on a hat that protects your face, head, neck and ears.

·         Seek shade.

·         Slide on some sunglasses – make sure they meet Australian Standards.

Extra care should be taken between 10am and 3pm when UV levels reach their peak.   For more information see the Cancer Council website: www.cancer.org.au.

P & C NEWS

UNIFORM SHOP

UPCOMING DATES

Term 4 - October Uniform shop - cancelled.

As I am now working full time off site, the Uniform shop will not be open in term 4.  Uniform purchases can still be made via the Qkr! app or the paper order forms in the office.  Delivery days will be the same as term 3, Mondays or Thursdays only.

Kindy orientation Wednesday 24th November Shop open time TBA - we will need 7 volunteers.  New volunteers welcome!  As this is to support new families and kids in the school other committee members will be running the opening, it's a good opportunity to get involved and meet other parents!

Email rawlinson.uniforms@gmail.com if you are interested in helping.

Uniform Shop will be closed for the year on Friday 26th November 2021. No Qkr! uniform orders or paper order forms will be accepted or processed after this date.

NAME SCHOOL UNIFORMS PLEASE

Please remember to name your children's uniform items, this will mean the items can be returned to your child, even from the lost property bin. Any unnamed items at the end of each term come to the uniform shop to be sold on as a second hand item.

DONATIONS

Please remember to donate your unused uniforms. Good ones for resale and tired ones to the office for accidents.

Kind regards

Sue Giles

CUDDLY ANIMAL FARM

Earlier this week the  Rawlinson P&C organised a visit from the  Cuddly Animal Farm for our Early Years.  Our students enjoyed petting and feeding the farm animals.  As you can appreciate, for young children, having positive experiences with animals leads to developing a range of important skills such as compassion, empathy and non verbal communication.  A big thank you to our P&C for allowing our students this opportunity.

Thanks!
