Broken Hill North Public School

School Bulletin No. 37 2020

From the Principal

This week will see our Kindergarten Orientation program culminate and it has been fantastic to see the majority of our Little Northies turning up.

Our Presentation Day will be held on Monday 7th December but through the day and at school in the hall. The collective decision at last week’s Far West Principals’ meeting was to go with staff and students only and link in with families through technology. Our K-2 ceremony will commence at 10am with the 3-6 and Special Education kicking off at 11.30am in the school hall. Mrs Hellyer and Mr Hamilton will do their best to pull together an audio/visual production of the day’s events and put a link on our media platforms to access through a you tube channel for families to view on Monday evening.

Plans for our Year 6 Farewell Luncheon are well underway. This will be held on Monday 14th December and as in past years it is our staff’s opportunity to acknowledge our oldest students and wish them well as they transition to high school. Finer details to come.

Another annual event that will have to be modified in our current COVID world is our Royal Blue acknowledgments. The criteria has had to be adjusted due to the learning from home period where school attendance will not be taken into account. The assembly is scheduled for Friday 11th December and once again we will do our best to enable parents and families to experience this through an audio/visual presentation.

Royal Blue Level criteria -

* Received nothing but green on their T&L chart for the year, or

* Received nothing but green or absences on their T&L chart, or

* Received no more than three non-green weeks, with no more than one red

* Been enrolled at BHNPS for more than 13 weeks with an attendance rate above 88%

* Been nominated by their classroom teacher with supporting comments and approved by the learning & support team.

* Students are ineligible if they have been suspended throughout the year. the

In respect to planning for the future if any families’ circumstances are going to change for 2021 and you know your child/ren won’t be attending Paradise next year could you please let us know asap so we can make that consideration for next year’s class placements. Thank you.

COVID-19 Guidelines for parents & carers

Unfortunately, the advice remains and the expectation is that parents will drop the children off and go in the mornings and remain outside the school, maintaining social distancing, in the afternoons.

Parents/Carers are permitted to visit the school for the following purposes only:

  • essential parent and carer meetings with teachers and/or school executives to discuss disciplinary or welfare matters where a virtual meeting solution is not available
  • parents and carers who attend a school administration building or another defined location for the purpose of picking up their child if they are unwell or where they have been asked to arrange for a COVID-19 test after their child has displayed flu-like symptoms while at school

Note that all adults visiting a school must comply with the department’s COVID-safe requirements including personal hygiene, infection control and physical distancing guidelines. All visitors must sign the external visitors form each time they visit the school regardless of the frequency and duration of the visit.
