Principal Message

I would like to wish you all a very safe, healthy, and happy holiday. It is hoped we can all spend time with family and friends during the break. It has been a hard year for many with so much disruption, isolation, and limited travel, it will be nice to take a breath and relax. I wish you all a very happy and enjoyable Christmas and may the New Year be filled with love and laughter.

Looking forward to seeing you all back, refreshed and rejuvenated in 2022.

Sad Farewells

I would like to say a huge thank you to our staff who will be leaving us in 2022.

Mrs Joey Hampton – Thank you for your incredible support especially during ‘Learning From Home’. You enabled classroom teachers to focus on their class and ensured students of our essential workers were welcomed and were not disadvantaged. We cant wait to meet baby Hampton.

Mrs Alia Evans – Mrs Evans has been with our team since 2018 and has been an incredibly valued member of our staff. She has actively taken on many additional roles including Harmony Days, Aboriginal Education, Numeracy Stage Leader, Remembrance Day and most appreciated Farmyard Carer. Mrs Evans also supported our Learning at School students as well as teaching her own class during the lockdown. We will miss her greatly and know that Sefton Infants are incredibly lucky to have her.

Miss Alison Martyn – Miss Martyn took up the challenge this year as our COVID Intensive Learning Support Teacher. This was a new role and required innovation, agility, and a passion for improving student outcomes. Miss Martyn has worked with student from K - 4 and has achieved incredible impact in 12 months. Although we will miss her we know that it is time for her to have her own class and we wish her all the best next year at Curran PS.

Miss Chant – We have been incredibly fortunate to have had Miss Chant on our team this year and it has been wonderful to watch her students learn and grow under her teaching. She is dedicated not only to her students learning but also their wellbeing. Miss Chant has been the stage leader for our Literacy improvement strategy and has been a key to implementing our Phonological Awareness and Phonics initiatives. We wish her all the best at Merrylands PS next year and know her 2022 Kinders are very lucky to have her.

Ms Erin Howard (Stage 3 Covid ISLP) - Ms Howard will be greatly missed not only by the Stage 3 team but across the school. Her flexibility  and focus on improving learning outcomes has had a positive impact on the students she has worked with. We wish her all the best in her new role in 2022.

Miss Nicole Ulph (School Counsellor) – Miss Nicole has been instrumental in transforming our learning support at Panania North. Her compassion and dedication towards student and staff wellbeing will be incredibly missed. Nicole has received a transfer to Sylvania High School which will be closer to home and care when her bub arrives in March.

Warm Welcomes

I would like to welcome Miss Hailey Lynch to our wonderful community. Miss Lynch has been appointed as our School Counsellor and will be joining us in 2022.

2022 Staffing

We currently have 384 students indicating they will be returning to Panania North PS in 2022 including 8 new students in Years 1-6. We have 13 students transitioning to new schools K-5, next year.

We have decided once again to go above our class entitlement and fund an additional class to reduce student numbers and the need for a K/1 and 2/3 class. We are unable to avoid having a 4/5 class this year but have worked hard to ensure that students are not disadvantaged by carefully selecting the class.

Our stage leaders will once again be released off class to take the RFF for their staff as well as providing time to supervise and mentor their stage teachers. Many Principals in our network will be following our model in their own schools in 2022.

Have a Safe and Merry Christmas, School Returns on Tuesday 1st February 2022

Early Stage one

WOW Kindergarten their first year of school and we can say it will always be a memorable year for all of us. On behalf of the ES1 team we want to say a massive thankyou to all parents and carers who were involved with supporting their child through their learning especially when it came to learning from home in Term 3. The support that was given during home learning was shown when students returned in Term 4, considering what we were faced with, all students had progressed and grown in their learning. We couldn't have done it without our parents and carers support and we will always be grateful for the dedication that you put in with your child.

I can honestly say we had such a fun and exciting year altogether despite the pandemic. From meeting their buddies at the beginning of the year, learning lots of new skills in literacy and numeracy and putting these skills into action. We cannot forget celebrating our 100 days of learning where all Kindergarten were able to get together through a zoom session. Our Kindergarten students have shown the teachers how resilient they can be, and we couldn't be prouder.

Thank you Kindergarten for all your hard work and dedication this year. Keep up the amazing work and we cannot wait to hear about all the amazing learning you get up to next year in Stage 1.

Enjoy the well-deserved break.

Early Stage 1

Stage One

Although we may have had an extended time away from school with home learning, this did not stop our amazing stage 1 from achieving so much in their learning.

On behalf of all the stage 1 teachers and our support staff we would like to extend thanks to all parents and caregivers for the amazing support you provided to your children. Because of your efforts at home, the transition back to learning at school was seamless and I'm not sure who was more excited to be back in the classroom; the teachers or the students!

A benefit of home learning was that families got to see the learning that stage 1 students had been doing at school and were continuing at home. In literacy Stage 1 has a large focus on phonemic awareness and phonics and using these skills learnt for reading and writing. In mathematics hands on activities, discussions and written follow up activities were used in all areas of the mathematics curriculum. Whether students were learning at school or at home, we were able to also participate in creative activities as well as in sport and fitness.

All stage 1 teachers and support staff wish everyone a wonderful, well-deserved break and we look forward to seeing you back next year.

Stage 1

Stage Two

What a year it has been for Stage 2! On behalf of all the Stage 2 teachers, support staff and everyone involved in our educational journey we would like to say thank you.

Despite the pandemic, learning from home, restrictions and all the other obstacles that we have faced this year it still has been a very positive year of learning. The Stage 2 teachers are extremely happy with the quality of work they have produced this year at home and at school. We could only imagine how hard it would have been to not have their teachers in front of them for support, but we are so grateful to have a bunch of adaptive students who are constantly challenging themselves.

We just want to give a shout out to all the Stage 2 students for consistently trying their best during these tough times! We wish all students and families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Have a wonderful and well-deserved break and we will see you all in 2022!

Stage Three

Well that was a crazy ride for Stage 3! 2020 was a challenge but....2021 was a bigger challenge. On behalf of all the Stage 3 teachers, support staff and everyone involved in our education journey, thank you.

Despite the pandemic, learning from home, restrictions and all the other obstacles that we were faced with....we managed to have a great year of learning, fun and excitement.Literacy and numeracy were at the forefront and we hope the knowledge and skills imparted are building blocks for years to come. From learning at home and in the classroom, nothing held us back in what we wanted to learn. Visual Arts, drama, dance, music, history, science and personal development/health were subjects that entertained and made our creative minds work overtime.

The return to school and the transition back was difficult but we saw off the last term with many exciting opportunities. The In-School camp, Year 6 Fun Day, Year 6 Farewell-walk out, presentation day and many other activities has been a great way to top off a somewhat different year.

We wish the Year 6 students a wonderful start to high school and we cannot wait to have our Year 5 students back in 2022 to keep progressing and moving forward.

Bring it on!
